Is Parental Alienation Child Abuse?

In Brazil, there is a law criminalizing parental alienation. The Parental Alienation Law (Law 12.318/2010) was enacted in Brazil on August 26, 2010.

In Croatia and in Romania, child psychological abuse, including parental alienation, is considered as a crime.

In Ireland, a growing number of County Councils have passed a motion from Parental Alienation Europe to recognize parental alienation as a form of child psychological and emotional abuse. The proponents of the motion are calling upon the Government of Ireland to take action.

The following County Councils in the Republic of Ireland have passed the motion so far (as of March 2020): Dublin City, Monaghan, Mayo, Kildare, Galway, Louth, Cavan, Laois, Donegal, and Carlow. Also, the Council of Derry in Northern Ireland.
